I investigate user interactions with information services and social interactions mediated by technology, especially in multilingual contexts. I have a Ph.D. in Information Studies from the University of Maryland (UMD), College Park, USA. I was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship and the Yahoo! Key Scientific Challenges Award to conduct doctoral research in the areas of social systems, Internet and multilingualism.
My projects have looked at social media, transnational social networks, social tagging, multilingual communication and information access. Also, I am interested in citizen science projects. I use mixed methods tailored to each research problem, including user studies, social network analysis, statistical analysis, qualitative content analysis, grounded theory, surveys and interviews.
I acquired most of my research experience in a multidisciplinary environment, at the College of Information Studies and the Human–Computer Interaction Lab in UMD. I have a significant international experience: I come from Spain, and have lived in Canada, UK, USA, and Italy. I speak Spanish, English, French, basic Catalan and Italian.
